Meet the Team

Lee J. Monahan, Partner  

Lee J. Monahan, PartnerLee J. Monahan is a Partner at Harren Equity Partners and is currently a member of the Boards of Directors of Professional Directional, Inc. and Keystone Air & Drill Supply (Keystone Drill Services/Stockdale Mine Supply), and served on the Boards of Directors of Precision Architectural Products, Virginia Explosives & Drilling Company and Woven Electronics Corporation. He is responsible for evaluating new acquisition candidates, closing and financing transactions and managing existing portfolio companies. Prior to joining Harren, Lee was an Associate with H.I.G. Capital in Miami, Florida, where he was involved in the acquisitions of Republic Industries, Inc., Sunshine Kitchens, Legacy Cabinets, Groupe Cabico, Automation Tool Company, Air Logic Power Systems and Harbor Technologies. Lee began his career in Chicago in the Investment Banking Group of Lazard Freres & Co., provider of advisory services to clients in mergers, acquisitions, restructurings and capital market activities.

Lee Monahan's interaction with portfolio companies has covered a number of different projects. In working with Woven Electronics he partnered with management in identifying a methodology to improve visibility on material needs, helping create a discipline to significantly reduce inventory. In addition, Lee teamed with Woven's management at its UK subsidiary in assessing the functional areas, restructuring the responsibilities of management members and implementing pricing and procedure policies to improve operations and cash flow before the sale of the operation to a competitor. With Virginia Drilling's management, Lee assisted in helping create a marketing program to assist the company in better communicating its unique service model that was not fully communicated to the marketplace. At Precision Architectural Products Lee worked with management in the development of metrics that allowed for improved monitoring of downtime and labor efficiency. Lee has also helped in the identification and recruitment of key sales, financial and operational executives and managers at various portfolio companies.

Lee graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Finance from DePaul University and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Harvard Business School. Lee and his wife are also active in a number of area organizations such as Basset Rescue of Old Dominion, Elk Hill, and The Virginia Institute of Autism.

In his spare time Lee is an avid baseball and football fan and enjoys travel, shooting pool and trying to golf.
